Why would GOD ask a question, even though HE already knows the answer?

The following is just a discussion and what I consider as food for thought. The reader is encouraged to form his or her own opinion based on the evidence that he or she is able to ascertain from what is presented in the case.

I’ve heard people ask, if GOD knows all things, then why does he not know where Adam and Eve are when they were hiding in the garden? Well, sometimes we ask things so that it will establish the true grounds on which we stand. It’s a way to present the facts so that the character and evidence are laid out in common ground for all to see.

Genesis 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Genesis 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Genesis 3:4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Genesis 3:5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Genesis 3:7  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Genesis 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:9  And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

Genesis 3:10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Genesis 3:11  And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Genesis 3:12  And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Genesis 3:13  And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Why do prosecutors usually only ask questions they already know the answer to?

"Because it doesn’t matter if the lawyer knows the answer or not, the important thing is getting the answer on the record and in evidence for the court."

"Additionally, lawyers tend to ask questions that they know the answer to because then they’re not surprised by the answer, and can form their case around the evidence that they know will be put forth to the jury or judge."

"There are always instances where the attorney will not know an answer to a specific question. In that instance, the attorney would be very well advised to stay away from that subject, unless he simply did not care what the answer was. However, in most cases a good experienced trial attorney will never ask a question to which he first does not know the answer."

When GOD asks a question, HE does indeed already know the answer.

Genesis 4:1  And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Genesis 4:2  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Genesis 4:3  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Genesis 4:4  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

Genesis 4:5  But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Genesis 4:6  And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

Genesis 4:7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Genesis 4:8  And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Genesis 4:9  And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

Genesis 4:10  And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

Genesis 4:11  And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

Genesis 4:12  When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

And as further food for thought, go back and look at the answers that Adam and Eve gave, then look at the answer of cain. Who told the truth, and who lied?
